The Outstanding Local Streets and Roads Project Awards Program was developed to recognize and raise awareness of the exceptional achievements made by California’s cities and counties to preserve and protect the public’s investment in the local street and road system.

This annual awards program sponsored by CSAC, the County Engineer Association of California (CEAC) and CalCities highlights cities and counties that are employing projects, programs, practices, and innovative technologies and materials to achieve safety, preservation, and sustainability goals for the statewide local street and road system. Award winners will be recognized at the 2024 Cal Cities’ Public Works Officers Institute and 2024 CEAC Policy Conference, and in CSAC, CalCities and CEAC publications.

Nominations are due no later than 5:00 pm, January 29, 2024 (electronic submittals only). Apply here.

Awards Categories for 2023

Applicants can nominate projects in four specific categories that aid in the comprehensive improvement of the local network:

1. Efficient and Sustainable Road Maintenance, Construction and Reconstruction 
2. Complete Streets 
3. Safety or Intelligent Transportation System 
4. Efficient and Sustainable Bridge Maintenance, Construction and Reconstruction
