Administration of Justice Bills of Interest

SB 144 (Mitchell) is now a two-year bill. SB 144 would eliminate a number of administrative fees imposed on a person related to involvement in the criminal justice system. CSAC will continue to work towards an amenable solution will continue through the rest of this year and next. In the coming months, we will be continuing to reach out to individual counties to help us develop a comprehensive list of costs to help inform our discussions with the author. CSAC staff will continue to keep members updated on the progress of SB 144.

AB 1390 (Stone) expands the Transitional Age Youth (TAY) Pilot Program to defendants who are 21 years of age or older, but under 25 years of age at the time of the offense with approval of the multidisciplinary team. CSAC has requested the Governor’s signature on AB 1390.
