CA Receives Federal Approval of 2025-27 Child Care and Development Fund (CCDF) State Plan

December 19, 2024

Last month, the Administration of Children and Families (ACF) approved California’s 2025-27 Child Care and Development Fund (CCDF) State Plan. The 2025-27 CCDF State Plan is effective October 1, 2024 through September 30, 2027, which details how California will utilize federal funds to provide child care services to families who meet income and need criteria.

The federal Child Care and Development Fund (CCDF) is an aggregate of several funding sources that are distributed in block grants by the federal government to the states and territories. While the majority of funds are used for direct child care services, a portion of the funding must be used for activities to improve the quality of child care delivery and programming in the state.

Additional information on the CCDF State Plan can be found on the California Department of Social Services website.
