Cal OES Announces New Competitive Funding Opportunities for Cybersecurity Grants

August 1, 2024

The California Office of Emergency Services (Cal OES) recently announced two new competitive grant opportunities for the State & Local Cybersecurity Grant Program (SLCGP), including a funding opportunity for the SLCGP for Local and Tribal Governments Program.

The program was created by Congress through the Infrastructure Investment and jobs Act of 2021 to help local governments and federally recognized tribes deal with cybersecurity risks and threats. It aims to enhance the security of critical infrastructure and improve the resilience of these entities’ services to their communities. Administered jointly by the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) and the federal Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA), funds are allocated to states based on a formula from which individual states can establish competitive grant funding opportunities.

Cal OES recently announced it has opened up opportunities to submit proposals on over $19 million in cybersecurity grant opportunities, grant application deadlines, and outlines the schedule for upcoming SLCGP webinars. The first webinar is scheduled for Monday, August 5th, with three others set for August, including August 7th, 21st, and 22nd. Proposals must be received by midnight on Friday, September 27th.

The grant opportunities are for funding from the 2022 and 2023 federal fiscal years. The federal Notice of Funding Opportunity for 2024 has yet to be issued.
