California Department of Technology Asks Counties to Take the SDEP Implementation and Capacity Grant Questionnaire

June 27, 2024

The California Department of Technology (CDT) is seeking feedback from local government, nonprofits, and other key stakeholders on various components of the State Digital Equity Plan implementation, the overall Capacity Grant program structure, and sub-grant program design.

The California State Digital Equity Plan (SDEP), which was approved by the National Telecommunications and Information Administration (NTIA) on March 28, 2024, defines the convergence of ongoing Broadband for All initiatives with additional federal support from the National Telecommunications and Information Administration (NTIA). In compliance with NTIA’s Digital Equity Planning Grant and California Assembly Bill 2750 (Chapter 597, Statutes of 2022), this plan identifies obstacles to digital equity among eight specified populations outlined in the Digital Equity Act. It provides a comprehensive framework of state strategies intended to overcome these obstacles, with the ultimate goal of achieving specific objectives aligned with the state’s three Broadband for All priorities. CDT has submitted the state’s application to the NTIA for its statutory allocation of $70.2 million in Capacity Grant funding to implement its digital equity plan.

CSAC encourages counties to complete the questionnaire comprised of 54 questions which may take about 20-30 minutes to complete.
