County Supervisor Webinar on Northwest Forest Plan Draft Environmental Impact Statement

January 16, 2025

A draft Environmental Impact Statement (DEIS) for an amendment to the land management plans within the Northwest Forest Plan (NWFP) area was released late last year. The Northwest Forest Plan (NWFP) is a landscape approach to federal land management designed to protect threatened and endangered species while also contributing to social and economic sustainability in the region.

The proposed updates respond to significant shifts in wildfire risk, forest health, and climate conditions that impact landscape resilience and community wellbeing and propose four alternatives for consideration. Implementation is expected to begin March 2026.

A briefing has been scheduled with Regional Foresters, specifically for County Commissioners and County Supervisors. Members of the Northwest Forest Plan team will join to offer an update on the proposed amendment and take questions.
