The Assembly Natural Resources Committee convened a wildfire
working group to discuss potential legislation in the
upcoming session. The group was comprised of a variety of
stakeholders and was attended by CSAC staff and several county
CAOs from fire-ravaged counties to discuss and share their
experience.
There have been numerous pieces of legislation introduced this
session in response to California’s terrible wildfire season.
Policies discussed at the meeting include bills to prevent
insurers from canceling insurance policies, improvements in
emergency communications systems, and potential changes in land
use regulations and policies.
The Assembly Natural Resources Committee expects to see a number
of proposals this year and sought stakeholder opinions early in
the legislative process. CSAC staff will closely monitor all
legislative proposals as they move through the Capitol.
