Dr. Erica Pan Appointed New Director of CDPH

This week, Governor Newsom announced the appointment of Dr. Erica Pan to the position of Director and State Public Health Officer of the California Department of Public Health (CDPH). Dr. Pan will replace Dr. Tomás Aragón, who recently announced his upcoming retirement, starting on February 1.

Dr. Pan has more than 20 years of public health leadership experience. Before joining CDPH in 2020 as Deputy Director for the Center for Infectious Diseases and State Epidemiologist, Dr. Pan served as the Alameda County Health Officer. Dr. Pan also held various roles with the Alameda County Public Health Department and the San Francisco Department of Public Health throughout her career.
