The California Department of Public Health (CDPH) has
released updated resources and recommendations for local
health jurisdictions and other community-based service providers
to help protect communities from heat-related health impacts. The
guidance updates original recommendations that were released
September 8, 2022. Updated information includes:
Additional recommendations for staying cool at home,
including during the nighttime.
The CDPH guidance provides additional or supplemental
information, but does not replace local extreme heat plans. If a
local health department or other local jurisdiction has an
existing heat emergency, adverse weather, or emergency action
plan in place, the existing local plan should be consulted first.
