Free Medi-Cal Peer Support Specialist Training and Certification Opportunity

January 16, 2025

The California Mental Health Services Authority (CalMHSA) will be offering a no-cost training opportunity for Medi-Cal Peer Support Specialists, utilizing funding CalMHSA received from the Department of Health Care Services (DHCS) to train 1,050 peers statewide for Medi-Cal Peer Support Specialist certification. The training will be conducted by vendors already approved by CalMHSA as peer certification trainers.

The training will be held between January and March at multiple locations across the state. The training will consist of 80 hours, with 40 hours of in-person training over five consecutive days with an additional 40 hours of virtual training. Interested trainees must complete an interest form by January 30, but submission of the interest form will not guarantee acceptance into the training program as space is limited. All training must be completed by March 15, 2025.

Additional information about the Peers program is available on the CalMHSA Peer Certification website. Questions regarding this training opportunity may be sent to workforce@calmhsa.org.
