The California Department of Housing and Community Development
(HCD) has recently released the
Notice of Funding Availability (NOFA) for approximately $39
million in federal funds for the Emergency Solutions Grants (ESG)
program. ESG funding is awarded to eligible applicants
recommended by local Continuums of Care (CoCs) and may be used
for five program components: Street Outreach, Emergency Shelter,
Homelessness Prevention, Rapid Rehousing, Homeless Management
Information System (HMIS), and Administrative Activities. The
NOFA will cover three years of estimated federal funding.
The application portal for these ESG funds will open on January
31, 2025. Applications and all required documentation must be
submitted by March 28, 2025 at 5:00 pm. HCD will host a NOFA
workshop webinar on Wednesday, January 22, 2025 from 1:00 to 3:00
pm. The workshop presentation will cover information in the NOFA,
application timelines, funding levels, eligibility, and
requirements with question-and-answer sessions. The link to join
