Due to “shelter in place” restrictions for the Bay Area, the Judicial Council meeting will be held via teleconference. A live audio cast for the public will be available at courts.ca.gov; public comment will be received in writing only in accordance with the council’s comment procedures.

VIA TELECONFERENCE—The Judicial Council at its March 24 meeting will consider an updated infrastructure plan for the judicial branch’s courthouse construction program. The 5-year plan addresses all 18 of the judicial branch’s highest priority projects and 15 of the second-highest priority buildings. The plan forms the basis for funding requests for critically needed new courthouses and renovations. At the meeting, the council will also consider a construction funding request for the 2020–21 budget to fund the first 12 of the 33 new projects proposed in the 5-year plan.

Other items on the council meeting agenda include:

Modifications to Trial Court Facilities: The council will receive a written, informational report on funding that supported hundreds of modifications and upgrades to trial court buildings. The report also highlights the large amount of deferred maintenance that remains statewide due to limited funding.

Improving Language Access Services: The council will consider language access grants for trial court signage and technology to improve services and better assist court users with limited English skills.

The meeting agenda and council reports are online, and a link to a live audio cast of the meeting will be on the California Courts website on the day of the meeting.
