Middle-Mile Broadband Network Customer Sounding Survey

June 13, 2024

The California Department of Technology’s (CDT) Middle-Mile Broadband Initiative (MMBI) team is seeking to better understand how stakeholders plan to connect with the Middle-Mile Broadband Network (MMBN), and to source input about the range of MMBN services while establishing a communication channel for stakeholders.

On behalf of the CDT, the MMBI team recently launched an MMBN Customer Sounding Survey to solicit input from local stakeholders who are building and supporting last-mile networks, including local government leaders, last-mile Internet Service Providers, and others.

The survey is a follow-up to the Market Sounding Report released by the California Department of Technology (CDT) this past April, titled Middle-Mile Broadband Initiative market sounding: Results and recommendations for network operations and maintenance. That report detailed findings from CDT’s recent efforts to understand and analyze the operations of other successful networks and includes a recommendation for how to proceed with the sustainable operation of the MMBI network.

CSAC encourages counties to respond to the MMBI Customer Sounding Survey (surveymonkey.com). Responses will be accepted until July 4th. If you have any questions about the survey or the MMBN effort, please contact mmbi.pmo@ca.state.gov.
