New Population Data Estimates Released by the U.S. Census Bureau

Data nerds rejoice! The latest batch of data from the U.S. Census Bureau was released last week. Each year, the U.S. Census Bureau releases a variety of new data estimates from the past five years on several areas, including:

  • Population and demographic data by city and county;
  • Income, poverty, and employment status;
  • Housing characteristics;
  • Educational attainment; and
  • Health insurance coverage.

The Department of Finance has posted all new California data sets on their website, which also includes helpful links to past data sets.

For those who truly want to geek out, the U.S. Census Bureau website has even more data and tools to analyze the data, including maps, tables, and data throughout the nation to analyze. The data could be valuable for fiscal forecasting, measuring outcomes of local initiatives, or honing the knowledge of the characteristics of your community.
