A new independent study conducted by UCLA’s David Geffen School
of Medicine was
released that evaluates the impact of the County Medical
Services Program’s (CMSP) four-year Path to Health pilot program.
The Path to Health pilot provided primary care services and
coverage to over 19,400 participants throughout CMSP’s 35-county service area
between 2019-2023, prior to the expansion of Medi-Cal for
undocumented adults in 2024. The program sought to reduce delays
in care, hospitalizations, and emergency department use for
undocumented adults who were enrolled in emergency services-only
(restricted scope) Medi-Cal.
