Now Open: Opioid Settlement Expenditure Reporting Form

The Department of Health Care Services (DHCS) has announced that the opioid settlement Expenditure Reporting Form is now open and will be due no later than September 30, 2024. The form covers the State Fiscal Year 2023-24 (July 1, 2023-June 30, 2024). DHCS is responsible for the oversight of funds that counties and cities receive from the finalized opioid settlements with McKesson, Cardinal Health, and Cencora (collectively, the Distributors) and Janssen Pharmaceuticals, as well as the Mallinckrodt Bankruptcy. Counties and cities receiving funds are required to complete DHCS annual expenditure reporting.

In preparation for submission of the reporting forms, DHCS has posted a PDF preview of the form for counties and cities to plan their responses. DHCS has also compiled the following resources to assist counties and cities gather the required information:

Finally, DHCS has released a California Opioid Settlement Technical Assistance survey, which is being utilized to assess technical assistance needs and identify which resources have been valuable to counties and cities. The survey, which will be open through July 31, 2024, can be accessed here.
