CSAC has partnered with the Rural County Representatives (RCRC)
and League of California Cities (Cal Cities) to provide a virtual
workshop, “Navigating
Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) Permitting”. The state
is projected to need 52,000 MW of energy storage capacity by 2045
to meet electricity demand with a continued rapid build out of
battery storage. Local governments are essential in meeting
the increased demand of battery storage but encounter challenges,
including when navigating regulatory and permitting processes.
The webinar will focus on providing insights into battery energy
storage system projects to local governments and relevant
stakeholders.
Specifically, this virtual workshop will explore:
Permitting pathways
Safety considerations and guidelines
Avenues for development and implementation
Best practices and lessons learned by local governments
