State Launches New “Facts Fight Fentanyl” Campaign

August 29, 2024

This week, the California Department of Public Health (CDPH) announced the launch of a new statewide campaign, Facts Fight Fentanyl, to educate Californians on the dangers of fentanyl and help prevent overdoses and deaths. This new campaign is part of CDPH’s Overdose Prevention Initiative, which collects and shares data related to substance use and overdoses, as well as supports substance use prevention programs, harm reduction tools and strategies, public awareness and education, and safe and effective prescribing and treatment practices.

Facts Fight Fentanyl builds on an earlier campaign launched last year, Unshame CA, to break down the stigma of addiction and increase awareness around the accessibility of treatment.  The new campaign includes educational materials in English, Spanish, Chinese and Korean across a multitude of communication platforms, including social media, radio, television, and outdoor advertising such as billboards and bus stops. Californians can access resources and information related to fentanyl, including an interactive map showing where to access naloxone for free or purchase, at FactsFightFentanyl.org.
