Suspense File: Update on the Status of Government Finance and Administration Bills

On Thursday, August 15th, the Senate and Assembly Appropriations Committees completed their hearings on bills with a fiscal impacts, commonly known as the “suspense file day.”

The outcomes of several bills with active positions by the GFA policy team were decided. Bills that were held in the appropriations committee are now dead and those that passed out of committee will soon be considered on the floor of their respective house. Below is a list of each of the active GFA bills that were either held or passed out of committee. Asterisks are included for each bill that passed with amendments.

AB 2736 (Carrillo) – Veterans: Benefits (Support)

*SB 399 (Wahab) – Employer Communications: Intimidation (Oppose)

*SB 1205 (Laird) – Workers’ Compensation: Medical Treatment (Oppose)

AB 2050 (Pellerin) – Voter Registration Database: Electronic Registration Information Center (Support)

AB 2249 (Pellerin) – Elections: Retention of Election Records (Support)

AB 2289 (Low) – Vehicles: Parking Placards and Special License Plates for Disabled Veterans (Support)

AB 2421 (Low) – Employer-employee Relations: Confidential Communications (Oppose)

AB 2557 (Ortega) – Local Agencies: Contracts for Special Services (Oppose)

AB 2587 (Aguiar-Curry) – Sexual Assault: Statute of Limitations (No formal GFA position, but was the subject of some advocacy by GFA staff)

SB 1261 (Alvarado-Gil) – Horse Racing: State-Designated Fairs: Allocation of Revenues (Support)
