10/26 California Public Utility Commission’s BEAD Workshop
The California Public Utility Commission (CPUC) will host a workshop on the Broadband Equity, Access, and Deployment (BEAD) Program in Sacramento and virtually, on Thursday, October 26, 9:30am-4:15pm. California received $1.86 billion in federal funding for the BEAD program via the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law. The BEAD funding will be used to deploy or upgrade broadband networks to ensure that everyone has access to reliable, affordable, high-speed Internet service. This workshop will include opportunities for public comment on the BEAD program, as well as moderated panel discussions on the Notice Of Funding Opportunity requirements for application scoring and project areas, the extremely high cost per location threshold, and more. CSAC encourages counties to provide public comment (from 9:50am-10:20am). Your feedback will help inform the CPUC Initial Proposal to the National Telecommunications and Information Administration (NTIA) on the BEAD program. The CPUC will put out a draft for public comment in the next month, so this won’t be the only opportunity to give feedback if you’re unable to attend.
In-Person Participation: California Energy Commission’s Art Rosenfeld Hearing Room (1516 9th Street Sacramento, California, 95814).
