NACo Artificial Intelligence Seminar Focused on County Workforce

The National Association of Counties (NACo) is hosting an online seminar, Doing More with Less: Sustaining the County Government Workforce with Artificial Intelligence (AI), on Thursday, June 6, 2024, from 10:00 am – 11:00 am (PST). The online seminar will highlight how AI and modern technologies serve not only as tools for keeping up with change but also as vital elements for empowering and sustaining the county government workforce.

Throughout the online seminar, speakers will discuss the transformative impact of AI and modern technologies on local government operations. They will explore practical applications of AI across diverse government functions and provide actionable strategies for local governments to adopt and leverage AI effectively.

Little Hoover Commission Hearing on Artificial Intelligence and State Government

The Little Hoover Commission will conduct a series of public hearings on AI and the California State Government, starting with the first hearing on Thursday, May 23, 2024, at 10:00 a.m., both in person and online.

The hearing will open with a discussion by Amy Tong, Secretary of the California Government Operations Agency, on Governor Newsom’s Executive Order regarding AI implementation in state government. A diverse group of stakeholders will provide an overview of California’s efforts to date in integrating AI into state government operations and will begin outlining best practices for future implementation.

In June, the Commission plans to hold a second hearing in Sacramento. This hearing will focus on how AI can be used to assist historically marginalized communities and aim to prevent AI misuse that could negatively impact these communities.
