For those interested, CSAC would like to share an upcoming webinar on Targeted Violence Prevention offered by the California Office of Emergency Services (CalOES) Homeland Security Division. These informational sessions are intended to connect professionals from state and local government, education, community-based organizations, and law enforcement with resources designed to prevent targeted violence.

Date: September 19, 2024

Time: 10:30-11:30 am PST

Location: Webinar via Microsoft Teams (Prior to the webinar, registrants will receive the Microsoft Teams Meeting link in a separate email)

The September 19 webinar will cover the Roseville Joint Union High School District’s behavioral threat assessment and management (BTAM) program and how their implementation journey has positively impacted the school climate and reshaped stakeholders’ view of safety efforts in schools. The early success of the program has led to increased buy-in for referrals, participation in case management, efforts to increase student connectedness, and support for a Culture of Care across six high schools. Schools can use a BTAM approach to alter perceptions of zero tolerance, comprehensive school safety, partnerships with law enforcement, and mental health.
