First 5 San Joaquin is seeking a motivated individual who possesses strong accounting skills to join the First 5 fiscal team. First 5 San Joaquin works to build resilient families, connected communities, and equitable systems of care through strategic investments and partnerships so that children, prenatal through age 5, are ready to succeed in school and life. The Accountant III will play a vital role, working in a team and with Contract Analysts, to ensure First 5 programs effectively meet the needs of families as well as follows state and federal guidelines. The Accountant III position is responsible for performing complex financial work that involves accrual basis accounting; conducting fiscal reviews; reconciling general ledger accounts; monitoring and analyzing fiscal reports; and serving on the First 5 Commissions Finance/Audit Committee. Ideal candidates will have experience with accrual basis accounting; have advance experience in Excel; possess strong organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills.

Qualifications:

EITHER PATTERN I Experience: Two years as an Accountant II in San Joaquin County service. OR PATTERN II Education: Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with major coursework in business administration, accounting, economics, or a closely related field, including at least twelve semester units in accounting. Experience: Three years of professional accounting experience. OR PATTERN III Education: Completion of 60 semester or equivalent quarter units from an accredited college or university including a minimum of 15 semester units or equivalent quarter units in accounting. Experience: Five years of professional accounting experience. AND License: Possession of a valid California driver’s license if required by the nature of the assignment.
