The position will be filled within the class series at the Junior Deputy City Attorney, Senior Deputy City Attorney, or Assistant City Attorney level, based on the candidate’s qualifications. Annual salaries for each level are listed below, with placement within the range determined by qualifications: Junior Deputy City Attorney: $123,259.05 – $165,178.91 Senior Deputy City Attorney: $151,854.78 – $203,499.93 Assistant City Attorney: $153,007.32 - $205,044.44

Qualifications:

Junior Deputy City Attorney: One year or more of experience in city or local government law is desirable, either in an in- house city attorney’s office or with a law firm practicing municipal law. Litigation experience is desirable, but not required. Senior Deputy City Attorney: Two or more years of experience in city or local government law is desirable, either in an in- house city attorney’s office or with a law firm practicing municipal law. Litigation experience is desirable, but not required. Assistant City Attorney: possess the equivalent of five years of increasingly responsible experience in the practice of law, preferably in a municipal setting. Required of All Levels: Equivalent to a Juris Doctorate degree from an accredited college or university. Membership in good standing with the State Bar of California. Possession of, or the ability to obtain, a valid class C California driver’s license.
