$143,083.20 – $173,908.80 Annually

Description:

Appointed by and reporting to the County’s Chief Executive Officer, the Director Social Services plans, organizes, manages, directs, and supervises the activities, programs, and services of the Department of Social Services including general assistance, employment services, adult protective services, in-home support services, child welfare services, and Public Guardian / Administrator; is responsible for fiscal management, personnel management, program planning, and program evaluation; represents department activities, programs, and services with community organizations and other government agencies; performs the lead role in the County for shelter and local assistance center coordination in the event of disaster; and performs related duties as assigned. This position operates with considerable autonomy requiring a high level of initiative, judgment, discretion, and the ability to make independent decisions in recommending and administrating the operations of the department and the County’s social service programs and services.

Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree from an accredited four-year college or university with a major in social work, human services, psychology, sociology, business administration, public administration or a closely related field. AND Six (6) years of full-time professional experience working in public, or private agency human services program, including two (2) years in a management capacity. Possession of a master’s degree in public or business administration, social services, human services, psychology, sociology, or a closely related field is preferred. Additional directly related experience and/or education may be substituted. Licenses and Certifications: Valid Driver’s License
