Description:
The Department of Health Services (DHS), Office of Diversion and Reentry (ODR) is hiring a Medical Director to oversee all ODR clinical programs. This includes community-based behavioral health treatment and primary care and enhanced care management, acute and subacute psychiatric care delivered by ODR partners, and forensic psychiatry engagement with mental health and criminal courts. The Medical Director will also help oversee the re-establishment of a clinical reentry program focused on jail and prison releases to LA County. The position, at the level of Medical Director I, offers a challenging and exciting mix of responsibilities that drive the largest mental health diversion program in the country and an innovative, integrated care delivery model. ODR is a leading-edge program that is a critical part of the County’s plan to decarcerate, address mass incarceration and achieve its Care First, Jails Last goals.
Qualifications:
Minimum Requirements: Certification by an American Specialty Board* and two (2) years of medical administrative** experience. Desirable Qualifications 1. A facilitative leader with experience leading clinical programs or operations. 2. An experienced, licensed psychiatrist with a. Significant experience working with or overseeing programs that serve justice involved populations. b. Significant experience supervising or leading clinical teams, including less experienced psychiatrists (e.g., residents) and other mental health professionals. 3. Experience coordinating care with physical health and substance use disorder treatment providers. Additional desirable qualifications 1. Board certification by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology with added or special qualifications in forensic psychiatry. 2. Completion of a fellowship in forensic psychiatry. 3. Experience developing and implementing clinical programs in large public systems, especially experience developing clinical diversion and reentry programs. 4. Experience working with Medicaid Managed Care Plan and/or Medicaid Behavioral Health Programs. 5. Experience working with adult correctional health services providers.
