Description:

The Santa Barbara County Executive Office is seeking a senior-level leader to manage a broad array of policy and operational projects and programs, with a focus on municipal services. This includes adept analysis, interagency coordination and planning, and excellent communication skills to help coordinate high priority, multi-department initiatives such as long-range planning, transportation initiatives, capital improvement plans, information technology projects, housing and community development activities, and parks and open-space planning. The candidate will be responsible for coordinating and managing diverse, multi-departmental projects to attain County objectives; developing and evaluating complex data to report to County-wide groups; creating and reviewing policies, and legislation; recommending and implementing systems and process improvements; and performing countywide assignments and initiatives. The role will develop and maintain productive professional relationships with community stakeholders, staff, and representatives from other government agencies. The candidate will embody the County’s values and behaviors and thrives in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications:

The knowledge, skills, and abilities listed below may be acquired through various types of training, education, and experience. A typical way to acquire the required knowledge and abilities would be: • Equivalent of a bachelor’s degree from an accredited four-year college or university in business or public administration, public policy, political science, accounting, economics, or a related field, and • Six (6) years of progressively responsible experience in administrative, analytical, policy, or program work involving data analysis and interpretation in fiscal, organizational, or operational management, including two (2) years of local government project coordination or program management experience.
