The City of Stockton is seeking to fill a Principal Civil Engineer position to oversee a Development Engineering Section in the Community Development Department. The Principal Civil Engineer will be responsible for managing engineering staff that perform reviews of improvement plans for public infrastructure, subdivision maps, lot line adjustments/mergers in accordance with the Subdivision Map Act, all for the ultimate consideration and approval by the City Engineer; and issue encroachment permits for all construction and related activities that occur within the City of Stockton rights-of-way.

Qualifications:

The successful candidate has extensive experience applying and upholding improvement standards and specifications, understanding and capabilities in applying the California Subdivision Map Act, and possesses strong leadership skills and capabilities in applying responsible engineering judgment.

Education/Experience:
Possession of a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited four-year college or university with major course work in Civil Engineering or a closely related field and seven (7) years of paid professional civil engineering experience, including two years of experience at the level of senior civil engineer or equivalent. Must possess a valid California Registration as a Professional Civil Engineer.
