Imperial County Deals with New Crisis
We’ve been reading daily about counties having to deal with fiscal crises, but Sunday posed a new challenge for Imperial County: dealing with the aftermath of the 7.2 quake that struck near Mexicali. Centered just 40 miles from the Imperial County border, the strong temblor caused widespread damage in Imperial County.
According to the Imperial Valley Press, the quake caused roadway and building damages, as well as power outages. The Imperial County Board of Supervisors must also deal with finding a temporary location for their meetings, evidenced by these photos of the county board chambers sent to CSAC by Supervisor Wally Leimgruber.
