2021 Challenge Award Recipients
A big thank you to all of the Counties, staff, and programs that entered the 2021 Challenge Awards! Our judging panel reviewed 433 entries — the most in the history of the program — spotlighting the most innovative programs developed by California’s Counties this past year.
In all, CSAC is honoring 52 programs from 22 different counties, including: 3 Innovation Awards, 21 Challenge Awards and 28 Merit Awards. These recipients showcased the amazing creative and collaborative solutions being utilized across topics, such as the pandemic, homelessness, voter access, technical assistance, organic waste, employee wellness, cannabis, and more.
The programs developed by Madera, Orange and Sonoma Counties have been selected as recipients of the California Counties Innovation Award, which is presented to the most ingenious programs across all categories.

In 2022, a press release will announce all award recipients and physical awards will be mailed. Staff are also working on additional marketing strategies to further showcase these programs.
