The California Supreme Court is considering whether a Sheriff’s Department or an individual officer can be liable under the Child Abuse and Neglect Reporting Act (CANRA) for not cross reporting to child protective services where the officer concluded that no child abuse was suspected.  CSAC has filed a brief in support of San Bernardino County, arguing that liability is not permitted where such exercise of discretion is involved.  CSAC’s brief was drafted by its Litigation Coordinator, Jennifer Henning.
