California Counties Statement to New Governor’s Office Website

In response to a new website released by the Newsom Administration today promising “accountability” on mental health programs, the California State Association of Counties CEO Graham Knaus issued the following statement today:
“Counties are working around the clock – every single day - taking every possible action to improve homelessness and behavioral health. Counties have always embraced accountability. What we cannot do is create new treatment beds out of thin air bypassing city, county and state laws, and prior to state funding slated for next July.”
