California County Supervisors Elect 2023 Officers
Riverside County Supervisor Chuck Washington to Serve as President

Sacramento, CA – The California State Association of Counties (CSAC), the voice of all 58 counties in California, elected its officers to lead the statewide association for 2023 at its 128th Annual Meeting in Orange County, CA. The new officers are:
- CSAC President – Riverside County Supervisor Chuck Washington
- CSAC First Vice President – San Luis Obispo County Supervisor Bruce Gibson
- CSAC Second Vice President – Inyo County Supervisor Jeff Griffiths
- CSAC Immediate Past President – Siskiyou County Supervisor Ed Valenzuela
“We are on the precipice of the unknown as counties across the state navigate ongoing challenges such as homelessness and delivery of behavioral health services. At the same time, we are presented with new opportunities to advance positive change and expand initiatives aimed at reaching our children early on to ensure a healthy and successful future,” said CSAC President and Riverside County Supervisor Chuck Washington. “I am honored to lead this county-driven organization as we work together to improve our communities through engagement and partnership with our city and state colleagues.”
“I congratulate our newly elected officers who will play an essential role in leading CSAC’s work on behalf California’s 58 counties over the next year,” said CSAC Executive Director Graham Knaus. “This group of elected leaders has a depth and breadth of experience that will serve counties well as we navigate the opportunities and challenges ahead. I am tremendously honored to partner and lead with these incredible individuals and all counties as we seek a comprehensive homelessness plan and build a more resilient economy for our communities.
President Washington most recently served as the CSAC’s First and Second Vice President. He has extensive local government experience, having also served as mayor and council member of two cities before being elected to the Riverside County Board of Supervisors in 2015. He was elected unanimously by the CSAC Urban Caucus and then elected President by his fellow county supervisors from across the state on November 18.
