CSAC is supporting Los Angeles County’s request for California Supreme Court review of a Second Appellate Court decision ordering the Public Guardian to file a petition to establish a conservatorship over an inmate released from a State hospital.  CSAC argues in its letter that the court misinterpreted the relevant statutes, and that ordering the Public Guardian to petition for conservatorship violates the constitutional separation of powers.  CSAC also separately requested depublication of the opinion.  The letter was drafted by Sherri Kaiser in the San Francisco City Attorney’s Office.
