CSAC Institute Course to Spotlight Homeless, At-Risk Youth
“Supporting Homeless and At-Risk Youth – Collaborative Approaches” is the focus of an upcoming CSAC Institute for Excellence in County Government course, scheduled for June 22 in Sacramento. County supervisors and senior executives are encouraged to attend.
As counties across the state are implementing innovative and collaborative solutions to address the issue of homelessness, they are finding that homeless and at-risk youth are a unique subset of the homeless population and therefore need equally unique approaches and interventions.
This class will engage participants in a discussion on many facets of youth homelessness including root causes and identification of homeless youth, school/county partnerships, foster youth, truancy and economic development.
Attendees will hear from experts in the field, along with lessons learned from counties implementing promising and successful programs. Cases studies from San Bernardino and Contra Costa Counties will be spotlighted,
Course participants will also have an opportunity to share their own county experiences as well as work together to discuss lingering questions and needs.
The course, being coordinated by the Institute for Local Government – for which CSAC is a parent organizaton – runs from 10 am to 3 pm. To register here, click here.
