CSAC Legislative Conference to Feature Workshops on Key Topics
CSAC’s upcoming Legislative Conference, scheduled for April 24-25 in Sacramento, will feature two workshops focusing on topics of significant interest to California Counties.
California’s growing senior population will continue to increase dramatically in the coming decades and have implications for many county programs and systems of care. “Preparing for the Silver Tsunami” will be a workshop that examines the challenges and opportunities for counties and the state related to California’s aging population.
A second workshop is titled, “Nickels and Dimes: What Every County Should Know About Justice Related Fees and Fines.“ Court-levied fines and fees provide important revenue that supports a variety of state and local services. However, as fines and fees continue to increase, a number of offenders fail to meet these obligations. This workshop will provide an overview of the current system, changes that are being proposed by the legislature and a discussion of how counties are currently using these funds.
Beyond these workshops, our Legislative Conference will feature informative general sessions and a number of meetings where CSAC members can discuss policy.
