CSAC Chief Executive Officer Graham Knaus released the following statement on the May Revision of the 2024-25 State Budget:

“What Governor Newsom did today is what County leaders are all too familiar with when faced with a funding shortfall – make tough decisions on spending cuts while ensuring that the most critical priorities are maintained.

The state’s 58 counties do the lion share of the work in administering state programs and services in our local communities. In the days to come, we look forward to working closely with the Governor and legislature to ensure that state’s final budget plan is fiscally prudent while giving local leaders the tools, funding and flexibility necessary to sustain the social safety net, while protecting public safety and maintaining vital infrastructure.”
