The following statement may be attributed to Graham Knaus, CEO of the California State Association of Counties.

“The Supreme Court today took decisive action that will ultimately make our communities safer.

“Every day, counties are on the front lines working tirelessly to support those in need of shelter, and to provide behavioral health and social services to those who need it most. California’s counties truly want the best for unhoused individuals so that they can get back on their feet.

“This ruling will protect communities and the unhoused alike by empowering local governments with the tools and flexibility needed to effectively manage the multifaceted issues surrounding homelessness.”
