CSAC is supporting Sonoma County’s effort to have the full Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals consider whether an officer is entitled to qualified immunity for using deadly force when the officers believed the individual was raising a rifle at them, even though the officers discovered later that the “rifle” was actually a toy gun.  CSAC’s brief was drafted by Santa Cruz Deputy County Counsel L. David Nefouse.
