Love v. Villicana (23-2991)
This case addresses the types of familial relationships that give rise to due process protections for purposes of civil liability for the death or injury of a loved one. CSAC’s brief urges the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals to adopt a clear standard for determining whether a protectable liberty interest exists, noting that not all claims rise to the level of constitutional violations in federal court. CSAC’s brief was prepared by Amy Hoyt and Gregg Kettles at Best Best & Krieger in Los Angeles.
