Mariposa County to Host NACo’s 2020 Western Interstate Region Annual Conference
March 7, 2019
Mariposa County will be the site of the 2020 NACo Western Interstate Region (WIR) Annual Conference, the WIR Board unanimously voted earlier this week. The conference, which attracts hundreds of county officials from throughout the West, will be held in May at Tenaya Lodge outside Yosemite National Park.
CSAC and the Rural County Representatives of California (RCRC) are partnering with Mariposa County on hosting and developing the conference in conjunction with the national association. Holding the conference in Mariposa County in 2020 has special meaning since Mariposa County Supervisor Kevin Cann will be President of WIR next year.
“We are honored to partner with Mariposa County and RCRC on hosting this conference,” said CSAC Executive Director Graham Knaus. “Mariposa County faces numerous public policy issues that can be found throughout the West.”
Since 1978, the Western Interstate Region has worked within NACo to promote the interests of western counties and advocate on critical public lands, community stability and economic development issues for counties in the Western Interstate Region’s 15 member states.
“We are excited that the Western Interstate Region will be coming to Mariposa County, home of Yosemite National Park,” said Supervisor Cann. “Working with NACo, as well as our CSAC and RCRC, we will ensure that this conference is the hottest ticket of the year for our colleagues around the West.”
