November 30 Deadline for Non-Competitive Housing Planning Grants
November 21, 2019
The California Department of Housing and Community Development (HCD) released the SB 2 Planning Grants Program Notice of Funding Availability (NOFA) for approximately $123 million in non-competitive grants last spring.
The Planning Grants Program provides one-time, over-the-counter grants to local governments to update a variety of planning documents, ordinances, and processes that streamline housing approvals and accelerate housing production. Aside from traditional planning activities, internal process improvements, such as permitting software, would also be eligible uses of the funding. Applicants simply must demonstrate “a nexus to accelerating housing production.”
The deadline for over-the-counter applications is November 30, 2019.
The following counties have already submitted applications:
- Urban: Fresno, Los Angeles, Sacramento, City and County of San Francisco
- Rural: Alpine, Colusa, El Dorado, Humboldt, Inyo, Mariposa, Nevada, San Benito, Tehama, Tuolumne
- Suburban: Kern, Marin, Merced, Placer, Santa Cruz, Sonoma, Tulare, Yolo
CSAC encourages all counties to take advantage of this incredibly flexible, non-competitive, and easy-to-access funding. If you have any questions, please email sb2planninggrant@hcd.ca.gov.
