Sheehan v. City and County of San Francisco (13-1412)
CSAC has filed a brief in support of San Francisco’s request for United States Supreme Court review of a Ninth Circuit opinion that concludes that the Americans with Disabilities Act requires police officers to accommodate disabilities when dealing with a mentally ill person who is threatening himself or others. CSAC’s brief, which was drafted by Danny Chou in the Santa Clara County Counsel’s Office, argues that the opinion significantly increases risk to law enforcement and others.
