Supervisor McGowan Appointed to State Position
Governor Tabs CSAC Immediate Past President for Department of Motor Vehicles Post
Yolo County Supervisor and CSAC Immediate Past President Mike McGowan has been appointed by Governor Brown to a position with the California Department of Motor Vehicles. As a result, Supervisor McGowan will be stepping down from his elected post in Yolo County.
Supervisor McGowan will assume his new position as Deputy Director of Strategic Planning and Policy for the DMV on Dec. 4 — one day after his last board meeting.
A longtime participant and leader in CSAC, Supervisor McGowan is wrapping up his fourth year as an Association officer. He has played an integral role in CSAC’s negotiations with the state over such vital issues as public safety realignment and the Affordable Care Act.
He has served as a county supervisor since 1993. Only five current supervisors in California have served longer in office than Supervisor McGowan.
The Yolo County Board of Supervisors will remain a four-member board until Gov. Brown appoints a replacement, according to reports.
