Upcoming CalPERS Events of Interest
Aug. 16, 2018
CalPERS will be holding two events of interest in the near future: A session geared toward local officials who are interested in learning more about pensions, and a webinar focusing on health regions.
Conference to Feature Special Session for Local Elected Officials
In connection with its annual Educational Forum in Riverside County this October, CalPERS will be hosting a breakout session specifically geared towards local elected officials who are interested in learning more about the world of pensions. Participants will hear directly from CalPERS executive leaders on pension costs, strategies to address unfunded liabilities, and what the future holds for CalPERS agencies.
The session is taking place in the Renaissance Indian Wells Resort & Spa on Monday, Oct., at 9:30am-12pm. This is a free session, but registration is requested since space is limited.
Additional offerings during the three-day conference are relevant for county department directors and administrators, offering them the opportunity to connect one-on-one with CalPERS experts, discuss priority issues, learn about recent policy changes, and get up to speed on business process guidelines. See the conference website for more information.
Upcoming Webinar on Health Regions
As reported earlier, CalPERS is evaluating its regional healthcare map and planning to take recommended changes to the Board of Administration this December. Due to the complexity of health regions and the varying levels of knowledge on the subject, CalPERS will be offering an informational webinar for its stakeholders.
Specifically, the webinar will provide background information on the origins of the current regions, the benefit of regions, challenges in remaining competitive in the overall health market, and what options are being explored.
The webinar is taking place 9:00-10:00am on Wednesday, Aug. 22. Click here to register.
