Women’s Leadership Forum (WLF) Events at the CSAC 124th Annual Conference
CSAC’s 124th Annual Conference was held in San Diego County in late November 2018. The conference offered a variety of workshops, speakers, policy committee meetings, and networking opportunities – and the Women’s Leadership Forum (WLF) had a strong presence.
WLF held a business meeting on Monday, November 26. Members thanked Supervisor Carole Groom (San Mateo County), Urban Caucus Co-Chair, for her outstanding leadership and service to the WLF. Members elected Supervisor Kathy Miller (San Joaquin County) as the incoming Urban Caucus Co-Chair.
After the business meeting, WLF hosted a workshop on economic empowerment. The workshop focused on the steps that have been taken, and need to be taken, to ensure economic empowerment for women. At the workshop attendees heard from an the illustrious group of women, including Senator Connie Leyva, Cassandra Walker Pye, and Assembly Member Lorena Gonzalez Fletcher. Each of these women shared information about how they were able to overcome the gender gap to become prominent leaders in their communities. The workshop provided attendees with valuable information to take back to their counties.
