SACRAMENTO – The California State Association of Counties (CSAC) Board of Directors voted overwhelmingly Thursday to support Proposition 1, the Water Quality Supply and Infrastructure Improvement Act of 2014.
“Now is the time for California to invest in a comprehensive, statewide water plan,” said CSAC Executive Director Matt Cate. “As a state, we are facing a growing list of challenges, including a severe drought, aging infrastructure and increased population. California Counties understand the vital need to secure our water future.”
If approved by voters in November, the measure would provide $7.545 billion in bond funding for new surface and groundwater storage projects, regional water reliability, sustainable groundwater management and cleanup, water recycling, water conservation, watershed protection and safe drinking water, particularly for disadvantaged communities, and other programs.
CSAC joins a broad coalition of agricultural, business, labor, environmental, water and wildlife organizations supporting the measure.
The California State Association of Counties is the voice of California’s 58 counties at the state and federal level.
