SACRAMENTO, CA, June 7, 2019 – Today, the Commission on Catastrophic Wildfire Cost and Recovery held a public meeting on their draft report at Sacramento City Hall. A coalition representing fire victims issued the following statement in response:
“The Wildfire Commission should stand with wildfire victims, as our Governor and Legislative Leaders have, and put to bed efforts to bailout utilities by eliminating property-holders’ constitutional liability protections.
“Wildfire season has come again and revisiting an idea the Legislature rejected last summer is slowing progress on reducing risk, protecting victims, ensuring safe and affordable power and holding utilities accountable.”
