SACRAMENTO – In response to both houses of the State Legislature passing the budget today, CSAC Executive Director Matt Cate issued this statement:
“California Counties remain focused on a balanced, fiscally responsible and sustainable state budget that meets as many of the state’s pressing needs as possible,” said CSAC Executive Director Matt Cate. “We look forward to continuing to work with the Legislature and the Governor to see that county interests are represented in the final budget package. Specifically, it is important that local governments have the necessary funding to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and that we defend against cost shifts to counties. It is also vital to increase investment in our transportation systems that remain severely underfunded and also give local agencies the tools to adequately address the drought. These priorities are critical to the economic well-being of our state and quality of life for all Californians.”
The California State Association of Counties is the voice of California’s 58 counties at the state and federal level.
