SACRAMENTO – California State Association of Counties (CSAC) issues the following reaction to the Governor Newsom’s second State of the State Address.
There is no greater priority for California at this time than addressing homelessness. California Counties appreciate that Governor Gavin Newsom’s second State of the State address focused on homelessness. California counties are ready to make substantial and sustainable progress on this critical issue.
“A crisis level response to address the most pressing issue facing our state is both appropriate and necessary,” said CSAC President and Orange County Supervisor Lisa Bartlett. “California’s Counties are committed to working with Governor Newsom, the Legislature and partners at every level to make significant improvements in the lives of the most vulnerable Californians through shared responsibilities and collaboration.”
“Progress on this humanitarian crisis cannot be achieved without partnerships. All levels of government must rise to the challenge,” said CSAC Executive Director Graham Knaus. “Action must include clearly defined responsibilities at the state, county and city level that are aligned to sustainable resources — in order to deliver long-term results. We are committed to working closely with the Administration and other stakeholders on these important priorities to ensure success in our communities.”
California State Association of Counties (CSAC) is the voice of California’s 58 counties at the state and federal level.
